Ray's 747 Story

“I was a QF Engineering LAME for 40 years. Initially in the Heavy Maintenance overhaul hangars then afterwards in Line Maintenance. I became intricately familiar with every B747 in the fleet over the years. I spent 18 years in Maintenance Watch (IOC) monitoring performance, troubleshooting defects and liaising with the Technical and Engineering crews. One highlight for me was when I was the certifying LAME onboard OEJ which brought our Olympic teams home from Athens in 2004. The B747 was part of my life for over 40 years (I also worked for Cathay Pacific for 3years). I have many wonderful stories and memories of our ‘Queen of the Sky’. For me it’s a sad end to a magnificent era.”
