Rowena's 747 Story
In 1972 I was a member of the 40 strong Linnet Girls’ Choir from Sydney. We represented Australia in July of that year at the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen, North Wales. We had some sponsorship from QANTAS, our travel bags were provided by QANTAS and we flew both ways to London in a QANTAS 747. What an amazing plane it was. So big, so exciting. After each stopover (and there were a few in those days) QANTAS presented us with a huge cake which was shared with fellow passengers and announced our presence over the PA system to all. It was good they seated us down the back - I think we sang our way to London!
