Yuk Laam's 747 Story

“I was an 18-year old Hong Konger (Which I turned 19 exactly today), who is currently studying Engineering in Adelaide. Everything started on Feb 14, 2020, when I got the opportunity to fly on a Qantas 747-400ER (VH-OEH) from Hong Kong to Sydney (QF128) before transiting another flight to Adelaide. This was the first time I flew on a plane by myself, heading to this far and mysterious continent. My nervousness was converted to excitement when I saw this mighty Queen of the skies parking just in front of me in the HK Terminal. There were scenic sunrise views just before we landed in Sydney early in this unforgettable morning. I asked the captain to bring me up into the cockpit to have a photoshoot with my poor and confidence lacking English. Then we had a little bit of chatting and I shook hands with him. I then realized that was the only day that had QF 747 from Hong Kong in that period, as all of the scheduled 747 flights were conducted by an A330 instead. I feel so blessed being on a Qantas 747 once before it retires. My dream is to be a Qantas B787 or a Cathay B747 pilot since then, although my fascination with planes is not into the level of an Avgeek yet. I really hope this is going to happen. Qantas 747 is the plane that inspired me.”
